Where to begin...

After months of mulling over how to begin the "Faith" section of my blog site, I found myself thinking this morning: what is it at its most basic form, in its simplicity? I had been trying so hard in my mind to have the first set-up and post be perfect, not wanting to push away anyone before they had really investigated, yet wanting to gladly and gloriously declare what I have found to be truth, life and fulfillment.

This morning it came to me clearly, this thing called faith is something that I know in my "knower", in my mind and intellect, in my heart and soul, in the depth of my being: I believe in Jesus and I believe completely in the Truth of His Word. I know from my experience that He has rescued me from myself and my sin, been my sustainer in very hard times, been the joy in my song, and been the Truth and Rock upon which I stand. I know that it is only through His grace and redemption that I live and move and have my being.

It also came clear to me this morning that I need to start right there...with that declaration...that this is what makes me "tick"and that this is what encompasses my faith. For me, the first and main foundation is one of faith, faith in Jesus Christ to be specific.  1 Corinthians 3:11 "For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ." So, if I am going to build my life...if we are going to build our lives..., it must be on the foundation that is already laid and has been since the beginning of time. He is the firm foundation that will never be shaken, even though this world is shaking, seemingly with increasing regularity.  If I am, if we are going to live the life that is truly life, living it to the fullest, it must be on a foundation.  For me, I choose to live it on the one already laid.
